Princeton Legal Search Group has been engaged on an exclusive basis by Hackensack Meridian Health to lead the search for an experienced managed care lawyer to join its in-house legal team.
The Vice President, Associate General Counsel reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and is a member of the Legal Services Department which provides legal support and guidance to all departments and affiliates of HMH and at all levels within the organization.
This position will support managed care contracting, corporate transactions and HMH’s independent physician network. Support may be provided for other areas such as corporate, complex contract matters, litigation, academic, research, intellectual property and regulatory advising and support.
Responsibilities:
- Provides legal support and guidance to HMH and its affiliated organizations in the area of managed care by negotiating, drafting and reviewing complex contracts
- Reviews, revises and counsels with respect to legal implication of policies, consents, laws, rules, regulations.
- Demonstrates an ability to operate with a clear vision that supports HMH’s vision, mission and shared values; maintains a ‘big picture’ view: foresees challenges and opportunities; owns and drives action to deliver results
- Must be able to provide cross functional leadership to enable the completion of the legal work.
- Participates in and leads educational programs on pertinent topics for HMH and affiliated organizations’ staff. Reviews applicable legislation and case law as necessary.
- Participates in HMH and affiliated organizations’ cross functional groups and committees, as appropriate.
- Must be able to own and direct a project whether working alone or by directing paraprofessionals in support of such project
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized university; admitted to practice law in New Jersey or the ability to register as in house counsel with the State of New Jersey if not admitted to the NJ Bar
- Minimum of 7 years of managed care legal experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with and learn information technology programs necessary to the operation of the department and area of practice assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Knowledge of, and experience with, relevant state and federal healthcare law and regulations and healthcare operations.
- Experience working in an in-house department.
- Working with, supervising and providing guidance to paraprofessionals.
Compensation
Starting at $265,283.20 Annually
