Schulz as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Kathy will report to the President of Stevens and its Board of Trustees. Stevens is a private university founded in 1870. It has 2,234 undergraduate students and 3,700 graduate students. The University offers the following degrees: B.E., B.S., B.A., M.S., MBA, M.Eng., and Ph.D. Ms. Schulz is the first General Counsel in the university’s 140 year history and was selected following a nationwide search led by Princeton Legal Search Group’s President, David S. Garber.
Prior to joining Stevens, Kathy served as Associate General Counsel at Yale University and prior to Yale was Associate General Counsel at New York University where she worked for 14 years. She began her career as a corporate lawyer at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York. Kathy graduated from Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1987. She graduated magna cum laude and was on the Law Review.
Kathy has deep and wide ranging experience in higher education which includes providing advice and counsel on corporate and commercial transactions, technology transfer, intellectual property (patent, copyright, trademark and licensing), formulation and interpretation of university policies, compliance, corporate governance matters, tax and community relations issues, employment and benefits issues, gift and grant transactions, university operations, insurance and risk management, contracts and procurement matters.
