About the Company

Our client, CorMedix Inc., a dynamic publicly traded biopharmaceutical organization in New Jersey, has retained Princeton Legal Search Group on an exclusive basis to lead the search for a VP, Compliance to work in its Northern NJ headquarters.

Following recent strategic acquisitions and the expansion of its product portfolio, the company has significantly broadened its commercial footprint. Joining this organization means stepping into a collaborative, mission-driven culture where your compliance expertise and business counseling support both scientific innovation and patient well-being.

About the Role

This newly created role will report to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and lead a small compliance team while personally owning a meaningful share of the program’s day-to-day execution.

The position represents a meaningful expansion of the company’s compliance capabilities and requires broad substantive expertise, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach. The successful candidate will both lead and execute compliance work and may be an experienced leader or someone ready to grow into broader leadership responsibilities.

The VP will work cross-functionally to enhance and administer a principles-based compliance program consistent with recognized compliance program elements (policies and procedures, training, auditing and monitoring, investigations, remediation, and effective reporting channels). In practice, this means partnering with business stakeholders to understand their evolving needs; reinforcing the program’s overarching compliance principles; refreshing and expanding policies, procedures, and trainings so they continue to meet legal requirements and remain accessible to and understandable by the employee population; sharpening monitoring and investigation procedures; and closing the loop through remediation and effective feedback.

Key Responsibilities

This is a player-coach role. The VP will be expected to both direct and personally execute the following:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer to:
    • set and implement company-wide compliance matters and provide strategic guidance to the business and other compliance personnel;
    • set and implement annual compliance objectives and priorities, and execute on them hands-on, both directly and through the compliance team; and
    • structure and lead investigations from intake through root-cause analysis, and drive remediation and corrective action to closure.
  • Serve as a trusted adviser to commercial, medical affairs, market access, and R&D leadership on promotional review, HCP engagement, and patient support activities.
  • Own the policy and training portfolio, keeping it current with evolving federal and state requirements and usable for a growing commercial organization.
  • Direct monitoring and auditing activities, including field monitoring, transparency and aggregate spend reporting, and third-party diligence.
  • Identify and implement key compliance systems as needed and work with colleagues to establish and administer appropriate compliance governance at the company.
  • Work with other key stakeholders to create, drive, and implement a structured risk assessment and mitigation process, monitoring efforts, and auditing initiatives.

Report on program performance, risk, and remediation status to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and senior management as requested.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will be a pragmatic, commercially minded compliance leader who can operate confidently within the company’s risk tolerance.

The company is deeply committed to ethical conduct and to a compliance program that enables the business to pursue growth within clear legal and regulatory boundaries. This role requires sound judgment, the ability to give practical guidance under uncertainty, and the instinct to collaborate with and escalate issues to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have at least 10 years of relevant legal and/or compliance experience, including significant experience within the biopharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
  • A law degree is not required but is a plus.
  • Candidates should also bring at least 2–3 years of direct people-management experience and demonstrated success scaling and maturing core compliance program elements — policies and procedures, training, monitoring, and investigations — in a commercial-stage life sciences environment.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $285K-$350K
  • Bonus- and equity-eligible position
  • The final salary will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, training, skills, competencies, and experience.
